Platform / Open standards

Open standards

Your record, portable — not held hostage by our software.

A property record has value across its lifecycle, which can span decades and multiple vendors. We build on open, widely supported formats so the evidence you paid to capture remains usable whether or not you continue working with us.

Principle

Portability is a design constraint, not an afterthought.

We choose export formats and storage conventions that are readable by common industry tools rather than proprietary formats that would tie a record to our platform alone.

Standard exports

Point clouds, orthomosaics, models and documents export to formats already supported by common CAD, BIM and GIS tools rather than a proprietary viewer-only format.

Structured data export

Asset registers, condition findings and measurement tables export in structured, tabular form suitable for import into asset management, CMMS or spreadsheet workflows.

No exclusivity requirement

Holding a Property DNA record does not require an ongoing subscription to keep the underlying deliverables usable. Delivered files remain yours.

Format reference

Representative export formats by data type.

Data typeRepresentative formats
Point cloudsCapture and processing method determine specific format options; common point-cloud and mesh formats are supported.
Orthomosaics & imageryGeoreferenced raster formats compatible with common GIS tools.
Digital twin / 3D modelsInteroperable 3D and BIM-compatible model formats depending on scope.
Asset & condition dataStructured tabular exports for import into asset management or CMMS systems.
Drawings & documentsStandard document and drawing formats as indexed from source or produced during delivery.

Exact formats depend on the capture method, service scope and the systems a given engagement needs to feed. Format requirements are confirmed during scoping.

Why it matters

A property outlives any single vendor relationship.

  • Ownership changes, and a new owner needs access to prior records without renegotiating with us.
  • Internal teams standardize on their own CAD, BIM, GIS or asset systems and need data that imports cleanly.
  • Professionals engaged after us — engineers, appraisers, adjusters — need to open and verify our evidence in tools they already use.
  • Long capital-planning horizons mean a record captured today needs to remain legible for years.

Portability does not remove the need for review

An exported model or dataset is still evidence, not a substitute for professional judgment. Anyone importing our exports into their own tools should apply the same scrutiny they would to any third-party data source before relying on it for a licensed determination.
